I have been seeing a lot of these lately. Fender American Standard Strat and Strat Plus guitars from the 90’s with the infamous “bathtub route”. Fender routed too close to the bridge to make room for a humbucker resulting in the bridge studs caving in to the pickup route.
These guitars are also weak at the neck pocket for the same reason. They are nearly impossible to fix, and not worth it. I have included this photo to make it easy to identify the problem, notice the bridge is touching the pickguard, this is indicative of an avoidable guitar. I have replaced bodies on three of them in six months, including one for Jeff Schroeder, who is using it on tour with the Smashing Pumpkins.
